Anyway, picking up Jack Kerouac’s The Dharma Bums and
‘I slipped in my bag at eleven and slept well, except for the bamboo joints under the leaves that caused me to turn over all night. “Better to sleep in an uncomfortable bed free, then sleep in a comfortable bed unfree.” I was making up all kinds of sayings as I went along.’
I have a love/hate relationship with Kerouac, who Jawbreaker exposed me to when I was 14 or 15. The Dharma Bums, which I read around age 20, is my favorite, and I’ve read it maybe 6 times.
