I miss Shan so much tonight that I’m sitting here at 2 a.m. listening to bad 80s pop love songs, and eating a bag of doritos. Anyone who wants to tell me to butch up right now can go to hell.
New polemic tomorrow.

80’s love songs? LOL
You should rent “The Wedding Singer”, it will make the moment complete.

Doritos are not food.

No such thing as bad 80s love songs, they’re all good. How about the soundtrack to Manhunter, including ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Strong As I Am’, the latter especially the song of choice to listen to while you rip your furniture to pieces.

Nadia,
Cool Ranch doritos ARE food! The regular cheese flavor - not food.

I hope Bon Jovi was included in the bad 80s love songs. I’m such a jersey girl! Now for good 80s love songs, it’s all about GnR!

Admit it, you’re listening to ‘Missing You’ by John Waite aren’t you? Or ‘Here I Go Again’ by Whitesnake.
Watching the video for the latter song will cheer you up. Guaranteed.
It sucks to be apart from the one you love, Insha Allah you’ll be together soon.
I’m now listening to Kiss Me by Duffy. Pure 80’s goodness.

P.S On your likes page I misread Gene Vincent as Gene Pitney (ultra cheesy club singer) and was impressed you’d even heard of him. Anyway for a wonderfully over top duet by him:

Haha, yeah, I don’t usually like Sandler but a few issues aside I liked “The Wedding Singer”.
Nadia
Can’t disagree, but a friend left half a bag and I didn’t feel like making Tofu tacos.

I’m kind of a minimalist, don’t have much furniture ( I sleep on a bamboo mat). Will check it out though.
Chickpea
Not on the list but I do sing “Wanted Dead Or Alive” when I’m riding my bike sometimes.
Saffiyah,
Awesome, thanks.
For the record, some songs I was listening to.
General Public- Tenderness (actually, not a bad song at all)
Modern English- Melt With You
Madonna- Lucky Star
Wham- Wake Me Up Before You Go Go
The Cure- Just Like Heaven (also a good song….Not sure why I used the word bad)
The Church-Under The Milky Way (makes even less sense as I go along….amazing song)
The Cars- Drive
Social Distortion- cover of Tainted Love
Jefferson Starship- Jane
Blondie- Dreaming
Madness- It Must Be Love (great fuckin song!)
That’s what I remember anyway.

Feel sorry for you Dave…missing someone is like walking around with a knife in your heart…you want someone to remove it…but at the same time…even that pain is better then the pain of not having someone to miss…sigh!
Incidently I can remember exactly what I was doing when Wake Me Up Before You Go Go first came on the radio in my hometown…funny how completely useless memories just stick around forever….but I cant remember the combo on my bike lock from one day to the next without looking it up….hmmm.

I’m the same way. I can totally remember what I was wearing when I asked this girl to prom ten years ago, but forget which kids I work with take what anti-psychotics if I don’t have a cheat sheet. It’s kinda sad.
Muse
Thanks!

Isn’t it funny how you remember little stuff like that? The clothes you wore? When I first met my husband I had a big antique cross hanging around my neck on a chain. He was Jewish. I was a recovering Catholic. You should of seen him wincing every time he tried to come close to me. I had no idea how Jews were repelled by crosses…. just like Dracula would react!
Ahhh, memories!
another thing you said is that, you “forget which kids I work with take what anti-psychotics if I don’t have a cheat sheet.”
Now that EXPLAINS EVERYTHING! My best friend worked as an admin for a youth psych hospital……..hence her biting sarcasm, dry wit, and “I’ve seen it all, attitude”.
your personality totally makes sense now!
LOL.
Bet she would love your blog.

Haha, funny story about the husband.
However, I was insufferable and arrogant well before I took the job, ask anyone who was reading my writing more than 2 years ago ![]()
